Bella is a 20ish Morgan mare that was pulling buggies in the Amish world up until a few months ago. When she could no longer make the longer trips on the hard pavement, she was sold through the New Holland, PA auction. Unfortunately for her, the slaughter dealer was the high bidder. Then, as fortune would have it, Saddlebred Rescue was at the sale. They do rescue mainly saddlebreds, but will also pick up the occasional Morgan, draft, donkey, standardbred or hackney pony. As fate would have it, SBR rescued Bella and put her for adoption, calling her "the slowest, calmest Morgan" they had ever rescued.
At this time 6 year old Samantha's mother, Michelle, decided it was time to start looking for a horse for young Sam. I knew just the horse. A few days later, Bella made the long trip from Blairstown, NJ to Tampa and a love affair between Sam and Bella was born. This mare loves her little rider and has learned very quickly what is being asked of her. She seems to much rather enjoy being a lesson horse instead of pulling buggies 20 miles on the pavement at a fast trot.
Samantha is sharing Bella with the Arbordale lesson students and after only a few months in the program, Bella happily carried tiny Samantha and then little 8 year old Emily to their very first horse show where they earned very good ribbons.
Bella is being shown as SBR Believe In Me to show our support and grattitude to Saddlebred Rescue.
